NEWCOMERS WELCOME!

From Phill Urena, Lead Pastor

I know it's not easy visiting a new church for the first time. Sometimes you feel a little awkward. You might ask yourself; Do I belong here? Am I really welcome? Will the people be unfriendly, or too friendly? Will it be easy to leave if I don't enjoy it? How should I dress? Am I welcome if I don't think the same?

As the pastor, I want to make visiting the Central Suffolk Vineyard an enjoyable experience with little or no stress. Be comforted in knowing many, if not most, of the folks here were in the same place as you not too long ago. Maybe it would be helpful if you knew what to expect. Here's a brief overview.

First, you'll notice that everyone is dressed comfortably, in anything from "office casual" to jeans and sneakers. We want everyone to come as they are, so dress the way you are most comfortable.

The Service officially begins with about 20 to 25 minutes of contemporary worship music. During this time we sing along with the worship team. If you are uncomfortable singing you are free to just sit back, relax and enjoy the music. Worship is followed by an encouraging and practical message on a relevant biblical theme and how it relates/applies to our lives. If I do my job right, you'll hear timeless truths from the Bible that make sense for today's world. And hopefully, you'll laugh at times and maybe feel a tug at your heart too. We may have a time for prayer or ministry as needed before we end the Service and sometimes we end with another song or two. After we end the service we just hang out, have bagels, muffins, other goodies and beverages and connect with each other. This is one of the best parts of the morning and we find that visitors generally enjoy this the opportunity to meet people and connect. Myself and the rest of our leadership team are always there and are happy to talk with our guests. At this point everyone can stay as long as they like or head home. The formal service is generally over by Noon.

that’s about it. People constantly tell me that they felt very comfortable. "At home" are the words I hear most frequently. Stop by any Sunday or feel free to check out one of our weekday evening meetings. You can find information about our weekly meetings by clicking on the Events Calendar or Life Groups under the Ministries drop down menu. The Life groups page will tell you about our small groups. If you visit please tell me that you found out about us on the Internet.
